White Reference Intensity

The White Reference Intensity option allows the use of a saved white reference in combination with real-time dark references, optimizing performance for continuous measurement streams.

  • When enabled: The white reference intensity is saved in a separate file. During real-time measurement, the most recent dark reference is used along with the saved white reference intensity to calculate the final result. This improves accuracy, especially in continuous measurement streams where it is faster to acquire new dark references (if the camera has a shutter). The formula used is

    • is the raw signal value

    • is the most recent dark reference

    • is the saved white reference intensity

  • When disabled: The white reference is stored as , and the calculation involves both the old and new dark references. This mode is suitable for applications that do not rely on real-time white reference adjustments. The formula applied is:

    • the raw signal value

    • is the most recent dark reference

    • is the stored dark reference

    • is the saved white reference intensity

For fixed-length new measurements, both a new dark reference and white reference are taken by default, making the White Reference Intensity option unnecessary. However, in continuous measurement streams, using White Reference Intensity increases measurement speed and accuracy
